Los Angeles Rehab Center Reviews Rating 2026 Addiction Treatment: 11 Brands Compared for Recovery Care

This comparison weighs eleven programs on what actually shapes daily recovery care, setting aside star ratings, which change too often to support a decision, with Bright Paths Recovery first for its small capacity and high staff ratio.

Quick picks: Bright Paths Recovery for a small, well-staffed home; Clearview for serious mental illness; Casa Serena for women seeking lifetime aftercare; CLARE│MATRIX for Medicare or Medicaid on the Westside.

A Buyer's Framework

Treat a rehab decision the way you would any high-stakes service purchase: define the requirement, then test each provider against it. Ratings and testimonials can supplement that process, but they rarely answer the questions that determine whether a program is workable for a particular person.

Requirement one is coverage. Private plans open the small homes and specialty programs; Medi-Cal, Medicare and Medicaid point to Beit T'Shuvah and CLARE│MATRIX in this group, with Casa Serena accepting public insurance too. A free benefits check settles the question quickly.

Requirement two is medical need. If withdrawal is still ahead, favor programs that manage detox where residential care happens, or a hospital such as Hoag if medical risk is high. If serious mental illness is part of the picture, a specialist such as Clearview may matter more than scale.

Requirement three is accountability. Programs that publish their capacity, staffing and clinical leaders give you something concrete to hold them to; where those details are missing, ask for them on the first call.

Requirement four is the exit. Know before admission what happens on discharge day: whether partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient care continues inside the same organization, whether sober living is available, and how graduates stay in touch.

Requirement five is fit with daily life. Device rules, visiting schedules and policies on partners and pets vary widely, and a program that works clinically can still fail practically if it clashes with a job or family obligations.

Eleven Programs, Compared

#1 Bright Paths Recovery

Of the eleven programs here, Bright Paths Recovery puts the most about its own structure on the record. The company names its founder and CEO, Adam Jaratanian, its medical director, Dr. Adnan Khoury, MD, MS, and its clinical director, Dr. Shushan Tigranyan, PsyD, and it publishes the two numbers that define daily care: 12 beds and a ratio of roughly three staff to every two residents.

The operating model follows from that structure. One Northridge house and one team handle both withdrawal care and the residential phase, stays usually run 28 to 40 days, and placement follows ASAM criteria. Dual diagnosis care addresses conditions such as PTSD and depression, with addiction as the central focus. Therapy draws on CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing, and specialty work includes art therapy, anger management and weekend outings.

For families, the practical details reduce friction during a stressful week: admission is often same day, phones and laptops stay with residents, couples and pets are welcome, and graduates get an alumni app and weekly check-ins.

  • Published capacity, staffing and leadership
  • Detox and residential care in one home
  • Joint Commission accreditation and DHCS certification
  • Veterans and couples programs

Pricing: Not published. Free benefits check; PPO and out-of-network plans accepted; no Medicaid, Medicare or outpatient level.

#2 Clearview

Where Bright Paths competes on scale and staffing, Clearview competes on clinical depth for one demanding group: adults whose substance use comes with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, borderline personality disorder or dissociative conditions. Thoughts of self-harm and suicidal ideation are within its scope too.

The operating model rests on DBT, supplemented by acceptance and commitment therapy and Seeking Safety, and residents live in houses close to the Venice treatment buildings. After the residential phase, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care continue with the same organization, part of the Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare group, and eligible veterans can be referred by the VA.

Neither capacity nor staffing is published, so ask both questions directly, along with who leads clinical care day to day.

  • Designed for serious psychiatric illness
  • Women's and gender-inclusive residential options
  • Gold Seal, LegitScript approval and DHCS license

Pricing: Not published. Kaiser, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Health Net/MHN are in network; withdrawal care is not described on its addiction page, so plan that step separately.

#3 Luxe Recovery

Luxe Recovery makes the strongest scale claim after Bright Paths, though it comes from a directory rather than the company: StartYourRecovery describes half a dozen residents in each house and close to three staff per resident. The two houses sit on Prestwick Drive in Los Feliz and Fredonia Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

Clients withdraw under nursing supervision without leaving the home and then continue residential treatment there. The amenity list is extensive, from a hot tub to an arcade, and the clinical menu includes EMDR and neurofeedback. For a buyer, the trade-off is verification: most of these details come from third-party profiles, so ask the company to confirm its accreditation, license and staffing in writing before committing.

  • Six-person households
  • Detox inside the home
  • Pet policy that can allow animals

Pricing: Not published. Only commercial PPO coverage and self-pay; public programs excluded, per Recovery.com.

#4 Beit T'Shuvah

Beit T'Shuvah trades small scale for time and community. Its West Los Angeles residents stay for months, following a schedule of group work, Torah study and Shabbat, and many work in the nonprofit's bakery, thrift store or studios.

From a planning perspective, the program sets clear terms: detox must be complete before arrival, phones are held for 60 days or more, and applicants must understand English. In return, the cost burden can be eased through a Drug Medi-Cal partnership and scholarships, and Joint Commission accreditation dates to 2015.

  • Communal, long-term model
  • Intervention services and alternative sentencing support
  • Dedicated gambling track
  • Career center

Pricing: Not published. Cost estimates are free.

#5 Breathe Life

Breathe Life Healing Centers matches Bright Paths on transparency about leadership. Brad Lamm, an interventionist and author, founded it; Beck Gee, AMFT, runs it as chief executive; and Dr. Stacy Cohen directs medical care. Capacity and staffing, however, are not published.

The clinical focus is trauma, with distinct tracks for LGBTQ+ clients, chemsex and airline crew, and the continuum is broad, stretching across six levels from detox to transitional housing. Medication-assisted treatment is offered, and the company traces its work to 2013. Its site shows insurer logos including Anthem, Aetna and Cigna.

  • Gold Seal and LegitScript certification
  • Online alumni groups each week
  • Family class and workshop

Pricing: Not published. The company describes most major carriers as in network.

#6 CLARE│MATRIX

CLARE│MATRIX occupies the public-coverage end of the Westside market. Cope Compass lists Medicare and Medicaid alongside commercial plans, self-pay and an income-based scale, a mix that private homes in this comparison do not match.

The Pico Campus houses withdrawal care and residential units for men and women kept apart, with stays of 30 to 90 days, and outpatient groups based on the Matrix Model meet in Santa Monica, Mid-City Los Angeles and Ontario. The nonprofit also trains outside clinicians in that model.

  • Prescribers on site for MAT
  • Opioid treatment program
  • CARF listed as accreditor

Pricing: Not published.

#7 Casa Serena

Casa Serena differentiates on the length of its commitment. The Santa Barbara nonprofit, open only to women, offers aftercare that continues for life, after a sequence of withdrawal care, residential treatment, outpatient programs and transitional housing at a single address.

Noozhawk names Lisette Fraser as chief executive and describes detox of three to seven days followed by four to six weeks of residential care. Eating disorders are treated inside the same program.

  • Women only, since 1959
  • Sober housing at Millie's House
  • Joint Commission accreditation, per its press release

Pricing: Not published. Both private and public coverage are accepted, per StartYourRecovery.

#8 Wish Recovery

Wish Recovery reduces the number of handoffs a client faces. According to its press release, one Northridge estate hosts withdrawal care, a residential stay, partial hospitalization and an intensive outpatient program, and a track for executives, physicians and attorneys sits on top.

Neither size nor staffing is public, and no state license number appears in listings, so a careful buyer will ask for all three. Third-party profiles describe equine therapy, private suites and an acupuncture room, and the company says a family that lived through addiction founded the program.

  • One property, four levels
  • Accreditation reported by Detox.com
  • NAATP member

Pricing: Not published. Rehab.com says private insurers are accepted.

#9 Hazelden Betty Ford

Hazelden Betty Ford brings the resources of a national nonprofit to a campus in Rancho Mirage, two hours or so from Los Angeles. Services include medically staffed withdrawal care, inpatient treatment, outpatient and online sessions, and a track for opioid use disorder.

Its strongest differentiator is family involvement, and it is the most developed family offer among the eleven: workshops for relatives, a children's curriculum and sessions in Spanish and for Native American families. A sober residence on the grounds gives graduates an intermediate step.

  • Joint Commission accreditation
  • Free initial assessment
  • Financial aid policy
  • Only ADA service dogs on campus

Pricing: Not published on the location page, which links California price transparency data instead.

#10 La Fuente Hollywood

La Fuente is one of three programs here to publish a size: 15 beds, per Rehab.com. The Hollywood program has served LGBTQ+ adults since 2005, a regional directory reports, and CARF accredited it in 2014.

Its sequence runs from withdrawal care under medical management through residential treatment and step-down programs to sober housing, with family and alumni groups along the way. Directories also list services for veterans and people living with HIV/AIDS. Therapy includes the Matrix Model, CBT and art therapy.

  • LGBTQ+ community at every level
  • Published capacity
  • Sober living

Pricing: Not published. Most plans and self-pay accepted, per Rehab.com.

#11 Hoag

Hoag is the outlier: the only hospital-based program in this comparison, and the only one outside Los Angeles County apart from the campuses in Rancho Mirage and Santa Barbara. Its Orange County acute-care system staffs withdrawal care with physicians and nurses at every hour, which suits clients whose medical risks call for that level of oversight.

The residential phase continues at SolMar Recovery, a 21-bed unit on the Newport Beach grounds where an on-site 12-step program also meets, with tracks for younger adults, working professionals and chronic pain. A family program runs for a full week, and graduates join Hoag's Heroes.

  • Hospital-level detox
  • Free assessments every day
  • More than 25 years in operation

Pricing: Not published. An online estimator helps families plan.
