What better way to beat the winter blues, than to think of Spring. So while we are all still cooped up inside trying to stay warm, let’s entertain the kiddos with this new Disney Bunnytown DVD just in time for Easter. Leave a comment and tell us what you do to beat the winter blues and you will be entered into our drawing* to win your own copy of Disney Bunnytown Hello Bunnies.
*Contest ends this Friday (the first day of Spring!) and the winner will be chosen at random and notified!
Last year I drank wine. This year I’m pregnant, so have to turn to cake And I go outside whenever it’s not raining/snowing/hailing around here and try to soak up all the sun I can!
Dress 3 noisy kids in warm clothes. Open door and (~nicely) shove them out. Shut the door. Pour self cup of coffee. Sip watching out the window, enjoying muffled joyful noises of them playing idyllically. Or, more likely, switch to reading blogs when they start arguing. As any mother knows, if you can hear them, they’re OK. If it turns quiet, you’ll have to investigate. And just maybe after the full cup, you’ll want to go run around out there too.
I take a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine by my side. I light some candles and read trashy celebrity magazines. DO NOT FORGET TO LOCK THE DOOR! This keeps all the little Gremlin Children and the Horney Husband out of your way for awhile. I also recommend music. If you turn it up loud enough you can drown out the cries for, “Mom”. Soon enough it sounds like a dull and faint cry. Or, maybe it’s the wine kicking in by then?
After my luxurious soak, I lather with coconut lotion. This makes me feel and smell like I am on a tropical vacation…even if it is just a pretend calgon get-a-way! A sure cure that your winter blues will just wash away down…down…down the drain.
Embrace it! Hope that it will snow instead of rain since it is much more beautiful. Bundle the kids up and let them go out and eat snow and laugh about it, put their rain boots on and let them stomp in puddles, let them have hot chocolate with extra marsh mellows, let them put their little fingers and hand prints on your freshly washed windows as they trace the raindrops,or have the kids lay on the couch and watch Little Einstiens not once but TWICE! It is funny to think that Spring in my school days meant it was the 1st time you could wear shorts to school. If it wasn’t for this weather I wouldn’t get to hear the cute sayings of “Cozy up” from my little ones so it is alright by me if there is one more day of winter as long as it is one more day I get to spend with my kids. Maybe next time the kids “Cozy Up” on the couch they will be watching Bunnytown!
