We had our first Seattle Mom Blogs get-together this Friday night in West Seattle and it was a huge success. I want to say thank you to our friends at Method for sponsoring the night and for all the ladies who drove from far and wide to meet up with a bunch of complete strangers. Thank you for coming, for all the great conversation, for looking so cute and most of all for not being psycho stalkers.
Method (the green cleaning people) have rented a green house in West Seattle for a month to throw parties and teach people about green living, and hopefully get us all hooked on their biodgradeable non-toxic cleaning products. The program is called Detox Seattle. They smell delish (the Method marketing people and the products), their packaging is gorgeous and their formulas are not supposed to be harmful to the environment. Ive already been cleaning my walls, floors and countertops with them today and Im seriously hooked.
They invited Seattle Mom Blogs members to join them last Friday night for a cocktail party and product swap and we had a great time!
People trickled in all evening, chatting, nibbling on hors doeuvres and sampling various drinks created by professional mixologist and reporter Natalie Bovis-Nelson of The Liquid Muse. I dont even drink and I was totally swept up in her passion for the history of cocktails and her creativity in the kitchen. She seemed to look at cocktails the way I look at food, a way to be creative and bring people together. She was awesome. The drinks were gorgeous and even the virgin varieties I sampled were delicious.
Carrie, Linda and I kept eyeing her fabulous lime squeezer although Im pretty sure none of us walked out with any new kitchen utensils stashed in our purses. Carrie? Linda? We did however walk out with several new yummy cleaning products and these super cute, if somewhat tight t-shirts. Ah well, Ive been thinking for a while that I want to look hotter when I clean. Tight = attractive, no?
Jenny did some short speechifying to welcome everyone and talk about some of the goals we have for the SMB site. We hope that everyone will feel more and more like this is their site and that you all will give your feedback and suggestions. As much as we like listening to ourselves talk, its more fun hearing from you. Were launching several regular features by Seattle-Area moms in the next couple of weeks and were really excited. Shortly after our columnists begin posting, well be opening up the site to our members for more regular posting. We plan to have more activities coming up and begin doing outreach to help other moms get online.
The gabbing at the party was non-stop and fascinating. Several times I found myself straddling two conversations, listening to both and jumping in with comments that may or may not have made any sense. This event really has me pumped to get back into blogging again, reading and meeting new people. I dont know how else I would have gotten the chance to meet so many diverse and amazing women all in one night.
You are a beautiful group, a talented group, a welcoming and inclusive group and Im so glad to know so many of you now and get to know others. My only regret is that I didn’t get the chance to talk to everyone as long as I would have liked. Thanks for making my Friday night so much fun!
Aaaaaaw! It was really super! Oh, there I said something dorky again, don’t laugh – and no, I didn’t swipe any cool kitchen gadgets . . . who on earth would think of a thing like that? Hmmmmm?
It was an awesome party. I loved the ladies and the free schwag. I also did not steal anything. Swear.
Lime squeezer….um, I don’t know what you are talking about….Had a blast…looing forward to the next gathering.
Thanks to Method and SMB for all the hard work they put into making this party a hit.
So tell me, when’s the next one?!!

It was SO much fun to meet everyone on Friday night. Looking forward to doing it again.

Great meeting everyone! About the shirts, I like the company (American Apparel) b/c they make fashionable tees without sweat shops. I have tee-shirts in their size M (tight) to size XL (comfy but not too big). So I think they run small and there’s just not a lot of difference between each size. Don’t worry; it’s not all those yummy appetizers we ate. It’s the shirts!
Hello Seattle Moms!
I had to check out your site – and what fun to see this post. Thanks for shaking up some fun. It was great to meet you.
Cheers!
Natalie
